The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera

This book explores the author’s experiences with communism and highlights a descent into the nihilism of isolation without God. The book is sexually explicit and tasteless at times. Shrouded in a cloak of “metafiction” the book meanders around sadness, blaming laughter for the lack of joy in life, and metastasizes as a hopeless quest, leaving you depressed and feeling twinges of a life of despair and unhappiness.

My advice is read something else.
